Founder and Executive Chairman of Cortex Group, as well as Founder and President of the Machine Intelligence Institute of Africa (MIIA), Dr Jacques Ludik, will participate in a panel discussion on “Redefining the Digital Banking Frontier” at Finnovation Africa: South Africa 2019.
Dr Jacques Ludik will be joined by Brian Richardson (CEO, WIZZIT International), Yudhvir Seetharam (Head of Analytics, FNB South Africa), Bavani Naidoo (Financial Services Strategy Partner, Genesis Analytics), Chipo Mushwana (Divisional Executive, Nedbank), Nick Wood (Senior Representative Africa / Middle East, Bambu), as well as panel moderator Abe Wakame (CEO, IT News Africa). This panel discussion will focus on how the 4th Industrial Revolution, specifically Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robo-Banking, is transforming the banking landscape and digital roadmaps of banking power-houses in South Africa.
Finnovation Africa: South Africa 2019 will take place at the Protea Hotel by Marriott Johannesburg Parktonian All-Suite on the 1st of October 2019. This event, with its innovative and interactive format, will see the gathering of world-class speakers, and more than 300 carefully curated participants – from established banking power-houses to FinTech start-ups. This platform will allow stakeholders to engage in conversation about the future of finance, and more specifically, the transformation and progress of FinTech and banking in Africa.
Africa’s financial sector is on the verge of yet another expansive revolution, with financial sector players playing an increasingly important role in the transformation of the continent’s financial services industry. The rapid growth and adoption of FinTech on the continent is driving both the disruption and leapfrogging of legacy systems, and is further accelerating the digital transformation of financial services across Africa. Major banks are rapidly ramping-up their own innovative approaches to meet the financial needs of under-served markets across the continent, and are harnessing new technologies, in collaboration with FinTech start-ups and innovators, to better connect with consumers, improve financial inclusion, and provide revolutionary platforms at scale much faster (EY Fintech Adoption Index 2017 / 2019).
Dr Jacques Ludik said, “The entire industry is moving towards a more innovative digital and customer-centric way of conducting business – with AI, undoubtedly, at the core. The deployment of AI in this sector will not only usher in new ways of banking, but will exponentially increase efficiency, cyber-safety, and personalisation – enhancing the customer’s experience throughout. I look forward to this panel discussion as we unravel the positive impacts of AI, how it will revolutionise the financial world, and drive positive growth impact for the continent”.
